What I Am Doing This Weekend
This weekend I plan on making some applique designs. I am going to head to the library in the morning and grab some books for ideas. Hopefully, I can get a good theme from the books and head online to buy some images online. The net is the best place to grab lots of images fast. I plan on converting them into appliqué designs. Hopefully the whole process will take a few hours and the testing will go well. Last week the designs turn out great, but my machine told a different story. Good thing it turn out the problem was the machine and I won’t have to redo the designs. After I make those designs I plan on converting them into tiny appliqué designs and then mini filled designs. If I can finish up everything this weekend, I will have some new items out for sale and I can easily take the entire week off.

My mom explained to me that her Brother XL2600i should be just fine for making me a costume similar to what I have seen from the Lord of the rings movie. She explained that some of the metal and leather work could also be done by hand and then not everything had or needed to use the sewing machine. I was so relieved to hear this because I was getting really excited about having this kind of costume made. One of the reasons I wanted a medieval costume made is because there is a Renaissance Festival that is held just outside of our city every year. It happens in the fall and everyone dresses up for this particular festival. I have always wanted to go but I have never had a costume that was good enough to go to the festival. I know if my mom is able to make me this type of a costume that I will fit right in.

After we had our home built we did not have a lot of time so our yard was pretty bare. It would bother my wife but because neither of us had the extra time to work in it both of us just kind of left it how it was. Finally things started slowing down at work so I could spend a little more time around the house and I knew that I wanted to make the outside look as nice as the inside does. One thing that I knew I wanted to have was flowering plants in many shades of blue. Blue is my wife’s favorite color and I knew that she would love coming home every evening and seeing the flowers lining the walk up to the front door. I wanted to make sure that I picked flowers that would be able to survive in our soil and that could handle the temperatures that we get here.

Candles are great for many purposes. Some people prefer to use candles strictly for decoration, and other people actually enjoy the slow burning flicker produced by the candle. Candles have been used for an extremely long time, and with good reason. Rewind about fifty years and people were using candles to light their homes when they lost power for a period of time.
Candles have history that goes back much further than that and it is simply because they are such a great invention. People in the modern world do not use candles when they lose power at home. With all of the sophisticated technology candles have quickly become outdated as a light source.
Candles are great for a lot of different occasions and most people use them as decorations. Some people even collect different types and shapes of candles as a hobby. Smokeless dripless candles are a modern example of the candle reinvented. Dripless candles are constructed perfectly so that they do not drip wax like all regular candles.

Quilt making is a craft that most people see as a creative expression and a way of bringing out a side of their personality that they normally don’t show. The reason behind wanting to make a quilt is as important as the end result as well.
So before embarking on a project here are different quilting styles that express more than words can say:
Baby quilts. These are usually projects done by new mothers to keep their babies warm and as the babies grow older, it serves as a memento of their childhood.
Memory quilts. This is a great way to celebrate or remember any important event that happened in your family or if you want to especially remember a member of your family who had passed away.
Amish quilts. The Amish were one of the very first to master the art of quilting and a lot of inspiration for designs are drawn from their work which was very expressive of their ideals.
Rag quilts. The latest trend in quilting since they are quick and fun to make. Combines the concept of patchwork and the use of fabrics that are normally not used for quilting like denim or flannel.
Photo Memory Quilts. Since photos can now be easily transferred on anything, this style has become the most popular as it definitely allows you to explore and bring out your creativity to the fullest by choosing your best photos and immortalizing them in fabric.
It is important to be able to express your thoughts and more important to show who you really are to friends and family. If you’re not good with words, learning how to make a quilt that is both creative and expressive can do the job for you.

I decided to put up a family project last summer. The project was making an amazing barn in our backyard. I wanted to have this yard to bond with the family and have fun during summer. All the members of the family including our youngest son will participate. On Saturday, after work, I drove to the shop to look for materials. I came across with a section in the shop displaying shed plans. As I was checking it out, I saw one shed plan designed for building a backyard barn. So, I bought it. The next day came and the whole family wasted no time on doing the project. The whole day we were laughing and having fun while slowly completing the project and eventually built the barn. Shed plans promotes precised and do-able plans for shed building. So, anybody can do. Imagine, a building project turned to a weekend family bonding and recreation. It is always guaranteed that using shed plans makes life easy.

Railroad workers use light and hand signals to communicate with each other. These signals where invented 130 years ago before people used radios. This allowed workers to send signals even from long distances. Flags were used in the morning while lantern pieces were used at night. Swinging the lights across the tracks means “STOP”. Holding it at arms length while the train is moving tells “Slow Down”. Workers say “Go” by raising it up and down. If the worker wants to say “Go back”, he swings it up and down half an arm’s length across the track. He would swing it up and down at full arm’s length to warn the train that a car has come loose. Swinging it at the top of the head means, “Do not go. Apply Brakes”. Lastly, when the worker holds the lantern just above his head, it means “Go. Release the brakes”. These signals offered a handy solution to communication problems of train workers back then.

It is never a secret why there are so many homemakers out there that are just very fond of buying figurines here and there. Figurines featuring cute little cherubs, beautiful fairies and goddesses, penguins and horses are all just some of the many designs that almost everybody are attracted to. And they mainly serve their purpose in making your homes beautiful.
Figurines also serve a different purpose for those who purchase them in exceeding quantity. There are people who actually collect figurines with a specific theme. There are those who are fond of Santa Claus Collector Figures and others just hoard intricate designs of horses in action. Unlike those who buy figurines to display them in their homes, collectors usually keep their collection to themselves until they are satisfied that their collection is enough. Either that or there is no more room for additional figures.
There is no doubt that figurines are quite fine pieces of art. This is more so especially if the figures are made of Lladro porcelain. Figures of this composition are quite marvelous to behold but actually costs a lot. Still, those who find investing on beautifying their homes worthwhile wouldn’t really mind the cost. Besides, porcelain figurines only prove that fine beauty has a price.
But if you are one of those folks are tight on the budget but would still love to adorn their homes with artistic figurines, then there is really nothing to worry about. There are figurines that are still low cost but of good quality. The best way for you to find out is to check the online market and find the best deals for good quality figures. Just make sure to read customer reviews for better guidance on how products of a particular brand have impressed their customers. Usually the best reviews come up with best quality figurines.
